Coronavirus COVID-19 considerations
Please do not stay with us if you have any cold & flu symptoms.
We are limiting our total capacity across the hostel to give guests more shared space.
We have limited our 5 bed dorms to 3, unless the booking is for one group of 5. We will adjust and close off rooms to keep the total number of guests in the hostel to a our reduced capacity.
Hand sanitiser is provided at entry to the hostel and in all rooms.
Disinfectant wipes & hand sanitiser are provided in shared kitchen & bathroom.
We expect all guests to adhere to distancing & hygiene etiquette in shared spaces.
Cleaning is to our normal high standard + additional in shared spaces throughout the day.
We will update as per Government restrictions and advice, and appreciate your co-operation.
Peace & quiet
We are a relaxed and quiet place to stay. There are no TVs or radios etc. on purpose. Streaming music or other content online must also not interrupt other guests. Please bring ear/headphones.
Our house is a traditional weatherboard and not soundproofed. Definitely not a party hostel - do not stay here if you want to stay up late. All guests being considerate of others is essential, especially after 10pm.
We are simply not set up for kids to be kids, and experience has unfortunately led to us keeping it simple for the benefit of all guests. This is not negotiable on arrival, and there'll be no refund if you choose to disregard this advice. Teenagers are probably OK for private room bookings, just give us a call first.
Check in, check out & office times
The office is open 9-11am and 5-8pm. Check in is from 1pm. However self check-in is available even though the office may be closed. You will be sent instructions on booking confirmation.
You may drop off your bags from 9am on the day of check in, and store them after check out.
Please make sure we can contact you on the phone number supplied or via email.
Doors are locked at 8pm. YOU MUST make arrangements with us to arrive after 8pm, or you will be locked out and there will be no refund.
Check out is 10am.
Bathroom, towels & laundry
Unless you have booked our ensuite, you will use our large unisex bathroom which is downstairs. Please bring your own towels. We also have towels for hire by charity donation.
We also have a washer/dryer for guests' use after 2pm daily. $4 per wash includes powder, and
$4 per dryer cycle.
Breakfast & kitchen
We include a simple breakfast in our price: a choice of oats/muesli/cornflakes with milk (including soy), tea & instant coffee.
Shared kitchen has gas stovetops, oven, microwave oven, rice cooker, pizza and baking trays, and a small Bialetti if you'd like to buy your own ground coffee. Salt, pepper, oil, plastic wrap and aluminium foil are also supplied.
Supermarkets are about 10-15min walk (2min drive) from us.
The kitchen is generally closed for cleaning from 1030-1130am daily.
Heating & cooling
We do not have air conditioning. There are fans in each room for the warmer nights. Central heating throughout and extra oil heaters...and of course our fireplace in the main living room for cooler nights.
Payment & cancellation
Bookings made via our website are charged on booking.
We recommend you have travel insurance to cover unexpected circumstances.
All bookings made within 48hrs: Non-refundable as it is unlikely we will be able to fill the vacancy.
Non-Refundable 48hrs+ in advance: Although by definition non-refundable, if you have made a mistake, and cancel within 24hrs of booking, we will allow it to be refunded. Otherwise no changes or refund.
Full Rate: You may change or cancel up to 48hrs prior (9am) to your stay. After that time there will be no refund.
